IKEBANA VESSEL

2015
Domestic wood, milk paint, glass test tube
11.5" x 3.5" x 6"

The vase, inspired from Ikebana, Japanese's art of flower arrangement, is sought to be left on a middle of a table. For the two awkward people, the vase provides a place to turn your eyes on, and even start up a conversation.

Made from a batch production project, where our goal was to create a set of 10 objects that is suitable for machine process and also takes advantage of the process through redundant angle cuts on different areas to flourish the aesthetic. Also was able to use leftover scraps from the rare wood collection at RISD to meet a lower price range for a better quality wood.

Done in collaboration with Laura Casanas and Sam Reese.
